The wedding season has begun! I can't make it to the one that's taking place this weekend in Florida, but hopefully my card will arrive in time!

PPA #79--Three-Color Challenge

 

Time for the Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge! Here are the colors--Riding Hood Red, Rich Razzleberry, and Certainly Celery. Wow! I love them all but I wasn't quite sure what to do with them. This is what I came up with. I hope you like it.

PPA #77--Vintage Sketch Challenge

 I love this week's PPA Sketch Challenge by my Pal Margaret Moody and hope you do too! Please feel free to play along with us at PPA. We really do love seeing what you create. 

I truly enjoyed working with the sketch this week, but, alas, I'm not sure that I like what I created. I don't really know what to do with a vintage look and after I made and photographed my card, I had some other ideas. I'll run them by you and see what you think.

Here's the sketch.

 

Here's what I did.

 

I was happy as I was creating my layers and I love the colors (as you may already know, blue is my favorite color!), the DSP, and even my flower. But I got stumped when it came to what to do with the extra space on the Always Artichoke layer and where to put my sentiment. I love the Tiny Tags Stamp Set and the Tiny Tag Punch and I didn't want to hide the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Always Artichoke layer. So, I placed the tiny tag sentiment on the left side to offset the flower a bit, but as I kept looking at it, I think it seems too small compared to the rest of the card. 

Question #1: Should I have chosen a larger sentiment and put it across the Always Artichoke layer?

Question #2: The other afterthought I had was should I have run some Very Vanilla Craft Ink around the edges of the Always Artichoke and dabbed some (using my sponge dauber) onto the Always Artichoke? I was simply too afraid I would ruin my card at the last minute, but maybe that would have given it a more vintage look.

The Real Question: So I appeal to all of you sensational artists out there, how could I have made my card better and have it look more vintage?

Happy New Year and PPA #75

Happy New Year, everyone! I feel as though I've been on a whirlwind since Thanksgiving--and then it was Hanukkah, and Christmas, and New Year's! But I'm back now ... and so happy to be creating and blogging once again. My holidays were great, and hope yours were too!

This week's challenge at Pals Paper Arts is a color challenge. What do you think of these colors -- Perfect Plum, Pear Pizzazz, and Baja Breeze? I love them and really enjoyed working with them. Here's what I did:

 
I loved using the new Create a Cupcake Stamp Set and Build a Cupcake Punch to create this card. They can now be ordered from the brand-new Occasions Mini Catalog which runs from January 4 through April 30, 2011.
